We found a perfect place on the bar to place our camera and document the occasion.

David and his 'too-cool-for-words' face.
After stuffing ourselves with way too much raw fish and crab cakes we headed to the movies to see Star Trek. Neither David nor I have ever seen a Star Trek movie or TV episode (was there a TV series?) but thought we should see it. We both really liked it and thought it was worth the $9.25 per person (can you believe it costs this much for one person to see a movie at the stupid theater!!!??? Gosh!) The next and final stop: Baskin Robbins for some ice cream. Mmmmm. Too much sugar for me so late at night, I was pacing and super hyper when we tried to go to sleep. Ugh. Unfortunately we were unable to finish our perfect date night with some much needed sleep. Someone in our family (the blonde that weighs less than 30 pounds) decided that 5:30 AM was a great time to wake up. We let him cry and mumble in his bed until 6:00 then I got up with him. We watched some quality PBS cartoons, laid on the couch (my eyes drooping with sleep), and finally gave into breakfast at 7:00 am. At about 8:30 a very tired and very emotional Mister was too much to handle and we put him down for his morning nap. Yes, a morning nap 3 hours earlier than normal. A morning nap that came before the morning snack even happened. Oh, good Lord! Now, imagine for a moment the kind of day that was brewing. (Doesn't look good, eh?) When Blaine got up at 10:30 (note: 11:00 is his normal nap time) he was ready to go... if only for about an hour then the crying started. It didn't matter what we did, be it praise, or love, or correction (i.e. "Blaine, don't brush Tug's teeth with your toothbrush that's gross, he's a dog and he licks his own ass with his tongue") - he cried about it. Finally at 11:30 we fed him lunch or was that a snack or... oh, whatever, we fed the kid and packed up for Zilker Park.
The park kept Blaine very happy and very busy for about 2 hours. We played in the sprinklers and ran up and down the big hills and ate lots of snacks and then David and I put ourselves through the ringer: we ran around town lake in the 95 degree weather. To be honest, it was a good (hard and sweaty) ending to a hard day. We did family grocery shopping on the way home, threw some burgers on the grill, made our own french fries and let Blaine play in his pool for the rest of the night. After a bath and book he was out like a light at 6:47 PM.We're hoping for 12 hours of sleep tonight... we'll see how he does. I just may have a meltdown if he gets up at 5:30 again!!!
Jessica, great pic of you on date night.
