Pumpkin and Elk

We tried to go to one of the many pumpkin farms this last week and because I had read the hours on the website incorrectly we arrived at a pumpkin patch that was CLOSED.  Ooops.  Big fail for this mama that day.  Mister and HG were disappointed and basically talked about going to the farm all week on family day.

Saturday started out with family pictures and, unfortunately, a bad case of Conjunctivitis... aka pink eye.  In between pictures and the pumpkin patch we spent over two hours at the UrgentCare (clearly nothing urgent about our case since we were there for-ever!) and as David got progressively worse the kids grew more anxious about the pumpkin patch.  After picking up two prescriptions we were finally on our way.

We went to the Rock Creek Farm and it wasn't busy at all, which was nice.  Plus you get to go into the field and pick out your own pumpkin.  Blaine thought this was the best part (probably because there was a knife involved.)  We're pretty sure Mister was made to be a farmer or a rancher .  Hannah actually called Mister, "Mountain Man Blaine" when we were there.  Too funny.

There was a movie star (Hannah Grace) there.  Unfortunately, she wouldn't stop for an autograph.

After some time in the four bounce houses we were all ready to go home.  D rested and the kids spent time painting their pumpkins... and in Hannah's case - painting herself!

Today we intended on going for a hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park but were sidetracked by the amazing sight in Estes Park, which we were driving through.  We knew about Elk Fest but had no idea it was this weekend so we were excited to see the elk herds on our drive into the city.  Some herds of elk come down out of the park, into the city, for their rut.  What a fascinating display of nature!  And if it looks like we were really close... we were!

We never ended up getting to the park for a hike but our day was a lot of fun - full of elk, food and ice cream :)
