Sweet and Sassy Hanny

Dear Hannah,

I just wanted to write and tell you how amazing you are.  Your smile and infectious laugh continue to light up our lives.  Though your "Sass" is coming out in full force, your "Sweet" is as wonderful as ever.

Next week you will be 22 months old - creeping up on 2 years old (GASP)!  You are using 3-4 word sentences now.  "Push swing Mama!" was one you used today while we were at the park.  We understand almost everything you say and when we don't you are persistent in communicating with us.  When we finally 'get it' you smile big and laugh, so proud of yourself for getting your point across to us.  Your most frequently asked question is, "Where's Bane?" when you're looking for Brother around the house or after school.  Your favorite demand is (still), "Eat, Mama, EAT!"  (Shocker.)

"I do it." has been a popular phrase lately too.  You want to get in the car yourself, climb in your car seat yourself, and strap on your 5-point harness yourself.  Actually, come to think of it,  you want to do everything yourself.  You can't do most of what you want but boy do you try and when you finally give up, you say, "Hewp peas."  Translate: Help please :)

You are a rock-star potty trainer.  Nearly two weeks have gone by with only one accident - good job Sister!

There is a light and sound machine in your room which we put on when you sleep.  The noises you like are the "falling rain" and "waves crashing" which we've used since you were a wee-one but it wasn't until recently that we started using the light function.  We can insert these discs into the machine and a "show" is played on the ceiling for you.  One of the discs has monkeys and parrots dancing around.  You call it your "monkey show."  Whenever it's close to bed time and you start rubbing your eyes, we ask if you're tired and ready for bed and you say, "Yes, nigh-nigh.  Monkey show peas."  It's the cutest thing ever!

You love to smile and show us your "teef" and you get super pumped about brushing your "teef."

Every other child you see is a "baby."  Even kids bigger than you that are riding in a cart at the grocery store are "babies" to you.  You smile and point and say so sweetly, "Aww, Baby!"  When I tell you that the child is not a baby, you look at me like I'm half insane.  Speaking of stores, you love to say 'hi' to everyone within earshot and if they don't hear you, you will yell 'hi' louder until they do hear you.  The grandmother-types love your smiles and 'hi's" the most.

You're a sweet one, little one.

Love you - Mama
