A Pumpkin and a Birthday

Our "cooler" (high 80's!) weather has brought with it a flurry of Fall activities.  This time of the year is our favorite time to be outside.  And this weekend was no exception.  We headed out for the pumpkin festival with the Pemberton family (our 2nd annual trip).  Last year we had a little Blaine and a little Siri... this year we had a big Blaine and big Siri and a little Hannah and a little William.  It's crazy how much can happen in a year.

We spent a good two hours at the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm riding the tractor, listening to blue grass music, painting pumpkins, picking out pumpkins to carve (which we didn't get to carve last year... or this year... yet!) and chasing the kids around.  Fun was had by all.

Mr. Elliot's birthday is Monday but we were invited to celebrate with them this weekend.  We bought him a lovely card and a coffee with the message, "We hope you have a Latte fun on your birthday!"  Aren't we original and funny (and sooo generous.)

After naps for the kids we headed over to our BFF's where the kids (and dads) decorated sugar cookies, Siri and Blaine ate about 2 pounds of sprinkles, and we all ate a pretty amazing home cooked meal by Ms. Kari.  This girl can cook!  She made a lamb roast, a fancy chicken dish, pumpkin soup, a vegetable and cheese side dish, fancy baked potatoes, and a chocolate cake (made from scratch) with frosting (made from scratch).  Clearly, this was a fancy dinner and Kari is my hero.  Elliot said that if he hadn't already married her, he would right then.  The sleep meltdown occurred (for all four kids) around 7:45, so we ended our wonderful evening and went home.

And now Grocery shopping is done, kids are sleeping, football is on and it's been a great weekend.  I'd better go enjoy these last few quiet minutes.
