Up and Running (well, almost)

Blaine took his first steps several weeks ago but just in the last week, week and a half has he really taken off. I think he would really prefer to walk places, but often finds that at this point he can crawl (or monkey walk with his butt in the air) much faster, so he plops down and does so. He can walk pretty far now unassisted - about 10 feet - across the living room, kitchen, etc... but he's still a little wobbly. We're impressed though and think you'll be too - here's a short clip of him walking.

Blaine also knows a number of words and associated actions, including:

- arms up

- clap

- wave

- no/shaking his head (he also does this while walking - it cracks us up!)

- throw me a pass (Blaine has a gun on him!)

What's funny is we know he knows these because he shows us, but he will only do them on his terms. If he doesn't want to put his arms up, he gives us this "Are you kidding me?" look and then goes on with his business. He is sleeping much better 10-12 hours each night with one 2 hour nap in the morning, but no afternoon nap. This hurts us all, but we get by.

Looking ahead: 2009 will probably bring Montessori school for Blaine part time, a few more hours at work per week for Mommy and maybe even a pregnancy? (No, I'm not pregnant people!) Who knows what 2009 will bring - but we're sure excited for it.
